How the 814 games were scheduled.
It is important for 14 clubs and 220 teams to understand that Fall dates are ordered and scheduled based on the board approval which was every Saturday first, then alternating Sundays between Sept, Oct and Nov.
The CAYSL scheduling software does not schedule weekend by weekend.
Typically we will have 5-9 teams in a specific division determined by our bracketing meeting. Each team has the ability to select 4 bye date (which potentially relates to 20-45 bye days per division). All the bye dates are mostly end of Oct/Nov and some on the 9/29 & 9/30 date. These bye dates typically align with popular tournaments that most NC/SC Challenge teams participate in.
We then have the fields that each club submits and the availability of slots of when a game can be scheduled as well as games already scheduled.
Our software then takes into account that each team will have 4 home and 4 away games. It uses the above factors to set the schedule. The reason for the scheduling software is to ensure everyone gets a fair and balanced schedule given the parameters above.
